In a landmark decision today for those of us that value the phrase "where there is injustice somewhere, there is injustice everywhere", the Kansas Supreme Court rendered the Kansas Juvenile Justice Code categorically unconstitutional for failure to provide juveniles accused of a crime in the state of Kansas the right to a jury.

While I had intended to do more respectable blogging for my first entry for EverydayCitizen, especially in regards to energy, environment, agriculture and rural development, I am finding myself writing on the continued fight, still, in Kansas between Clinton and Obama supporters.

In order to clear the air on any biases, I am and have been a Barack Obama supporter, activist and volunteer since before the beginning. He is my generation's greatest opportunity for a different future. However, this personal commentary aside, I will support and volunteer for Sen. Clinton if she is crowned by the Party's nomination.

Being a Kansan, we have held our caucuses on Super Fat Tuesday in February. Obama won in Kansas overwhelmingly by a 75-25 break-down, give or take a few points. However, ironically, I am finding that more and more Kansas Democrats are split between Clinton and Obama and still feuding this out over dinners, telephone conversations, racquetball (maybe in Johnson or Douglas Counties???) and even in bars over pitchers of beers and a game of pool (the other 103 counties and can you say emergency room?).

Democratic National Convention

Everyday Citizen has been selected as one of only 55 blogs nationwide to be "embedded" with convention delegates at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver, August 25th to 29th. Plus, Everyday Citizen is among only 120 total blog sites credentialed in the nation.

Also thanks to wonderful hosts in Denver like ProgressNow and other orgs, many of our EC authors are looking forward to some great networking with other activists and grassroots organizers in the Big Tent in Denver. The Big Tent is a precious resource for our budget conscious and travel weary activists!

Our group of Everyday Citizen authors will be blogging from the Big Tent, blogging from the caucuses, and enjoying some unprecedented and unfettered access to the delegate floor, above and beyond the privileges provided to traditional media. We hope you stay tuned right here for your ongoing, close-up and ringside blog coverage of this historic convention!
