Born in Wichita, Kansas, and having received her journalism degree from the University of Kansas, Lisa Reiss has a diverse 27 years of experience in public relations including working for former U.S. Representative Dan Glickman for four years, director of publicity for Hemdale Pictures (makers of “Hoosiers”, “Platoon,” “The Last Emperor,” and “The Terminator”), talent booking for TNN’s “Crook and Chase Show”, and numerous corporate PR gigs.
Lisa is well-versed in politics. She organized the effort to destroy a county-operated “live animal dump site” in Smyrna, Tennessee, in which animals were abandoned by their owners in a small video-style drop slots. The facility had no heat or air conditioning, carpet or staff. The inhumane approach and subsequent messaging to society that all animals are “disposable” inspired her to dedicate six months entirely to the destruction of the facility and re-education of the community. After thousands of signatures from over 32 countries, rallies at the site from animal lovers nationwide, and constant media attention including being featured on “Dateline” and other national shows, the county razed the structure.
After living in Los Angeles, Nashville, Delray Beach and Atlanta, Lisa moved back to Kansas to be with her 84-year-old father and help around the house. The return to Kansas was just in time for her also to assume the position of campaign manager for the “Betts for Congress Campaign” (Sen. Donald Betts, Jr.’s claim for the 4th District seat held by U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt) in 2008. Recently married, Lisa now lives in Australia.
Her passion is to help others by showing kindness, compassion and honesty. She wants to see that all citizens have equal rights and representation. Lisa is dedicated to working to ensure the betterment of society.
