For over 35 years, John has been a public-interest lawyer, activist, radio talk-show host, and organizer.
Holding a law degree from Boston University and a master of law from George Washington Law Center, he is an alumnus of Columbia University and recipient of the Charles Revson Fellowship.
John is founder and board president of the NJ-based National Housing Institute/Shelterforce (NHI), a national think tank that promotes concrete strategies leading to affordable housing, urban revitalization, and a more robust and engaged civil society.
He's has written a forthcoming book about democracy, poverty and progressive politics, Seeds of Hope: The Untold Story of ACORN, America’s Most Successful Anti-Poverty Community Group and How It’s Changing America. With interests and ideas to share in many varied and interesting topics, he has contributed articles and chapters to numerous books and periodicals.
As a prolific public servant and leader, John strives to impact public policy and mobilize communities to fight poverty, thus sustaining his own lifelong commitment to improving the lives of those less fortunate. We are honored that John has joined us at EverydayCitizen.com.
