Cornelio Nouel's Blog

Readers may browse through all of Cornelio's blog postings by reviewing his complete archives here.

Cornelio Nouel was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He came to the US in 1960 to attend high school in an all boys Catholic school. (We're sure that place was never the same again afterward) After graduation, Cornelio attended Jr. College, worked in a variety of odd jobs and became active in Democratic politics by becoming a member of the Young Democrats and a volunteer for the Lyndon B. Johnson campaign in 1964. These days, he considers himself an independent but remains a Democrat at heart.

In 1968, he moved to Nacogdoches, Texas, to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. He lived in East Texas until 1979. Cornelio finished his BA in History and Sociology at Pan American University and his MA in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas in Brownsville. He is very proud of having been a board member and board president of the Battered Women's Shelter in Brownsville Texas, a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Southern Cameron County and a member of the Texas Office of Minority Health Core Planning Group.

As a single parent, Cornelio raised his daughter Erika from the time she was 8 until she turned 18. Erika is married now and has three great boys making him the "world's youngest grandfather." His other interests include photography, astronomy, classic music and science fiction.

Cornelio has written a series of social and political satirical essays that were published in a British website. His continuing goals are to write political satires for Everyday Citizen as well as some "straight forward stuff on poltics, history and the trials and tribulations of living in this world of ours." We're fortunate that he's joined Everyday Citizen! Cornelio welcomes you to view his complete historical blog archives here.
