Representative Lynn Jenkins had, for lack of a better term, a rough August. She finally came back to Kansas to hold town hall meetings (which she failed to personally appear at months earlier). Lynn Jenkins, based on her robo calls, was expecting a largely supportive crowd for her stance as being a member of the party of “no.” What Rep. Jenkins discovered was that she could not get away with failures in judgment back home, such as her “Great White Hope” comment. Even more telling of Lynn Jenkins’ failure in representing the Second District was her incident in Ottawa where she laughed at an uninsured mother and her son. With such an atrocious trip back home in August, you would expect Rep. Jenkins to be ready to get back to work and actually serve her constituents in some attempt to save face. Unfortunately, this week Representative Jenkins continued her pattern of failure. This Wednesday Rep. Lynn Jenkins released this Tweet:

A broad group of progressives, moderate Democrats, center independents, and even now, some moderate Republicans in Kansas' Second District are growing weary of the constant gaffes, mistruths, and overall failed representation of their delegate to the U. S. House, Representative Lynn Jenkins. Her latest comment on the Republicans' need for a "Great White Hope" underscores the the Second District's need for true representation in Congress.

Last year will be a year for many youth in this country to remember quite fondly. It was a year when we bucked tradition, came out and helped play a vital role in a coalition that elected a president. This past election season saw the youth come out in droves; the 18-35 votes accounted for a larger share of the total vote than those voters aged 65 and over. It would be easy for us rest on our laurels, to assume that we've made it over the proverbial hump and that success is finally here, however, we've only just begun.
