Writer's Block or Lazy?

By Ken Poland
December 20, 2011

Only nineteen posts from seven authors over the past couple months isn’t very good or impressive. With fifty some registered authors, we are not a very prolific group of writers. Do we not have any social, religious, or political issues, any more?

National election is less than twelve months away. The economy, though improved some, is still a major concern for many. Political unrest around the world is an open area for discussion. We all have negative views on somethings and we should all have some positive views on something. How about sharing them?

Does no one have any positive things to share or report on? Human interest articles, local events, biographical articles on our favorite leaders, both local and national are always interesting.

We have registered writers who have professional credentials. But, our name ‘Everyday Citizens’ indicates that we want just plain ordinary folks to join in dialogue, also. Freedom of the press means nothing if we don’t exercise that freedom. Come on and get your keyboard up and running. We need participation or we’ll lose this venue to be heard.

Hi Ken. Thanks for the push for the writers. I hope others will try to give blogging a try. I didn't have any ideas for a blog, but will think of one soon. Everyday Citizen is a wonderful site.

Diane Author Profile Page:

Ken--I too wish more people would contribute, but right now everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays. In general, though, it takes me a lot of time to write these blogs, even when I have an idea for one. Coming with two blogs per month is not as easy as it may sound. I often end up doing research when I write because I seldom write about topics I can deal with off the top of my head.

Sometimes I've resorted to expanding a letter I've written to the Wichita Eagle, or if I'm really up against it, I submit a poem. A couple of months ago, I rewrote a speech I made at a pro-choice event. I would rather deal with original issues, though, when I write.

I'm in awe of people like you and Angelo. Both of you are prolific and you write blogs that are substantive. Still I do wish more people would contribute with their good thoughts.

Diane
