Scott Roeder Found Guilty Of Murdering Dr. George Tiller

By Tatiana McKinney
January 29, 2010

According to TPMMuckTracker, "A Kansas jury just found Scott Roeder guilty of first degree murder in the killing of abortion doctor George Tiller at his church last May. The jury reportedly deliberated for less than hour. Roeder, an extremist anti-abortion activist, admitted on the stand that he killed Tiller. Roeder was also found guilty on two counts of aggravated assault for pointing his gun at church ushers."

WOW!

The Kansas City Star reports on what's next:

Sedgwick County District Judge Warren Wilbert set Roeder's sentencing for March 9. Roeder faces a maximum sentence of life in prison with a chance of parole after 25 years.

My Thoughts...

I'm glad the Jury realized that Scott Roeder was a murderer! If he had of been convicted of a lesser charger, many "Anti-Choice" Extremists would of been a risk to other clinics still performing abortions.

If we are to be a society of law and order, then we cannot allow individuals to take law into their own hands.

This trial was not about pro or anti abortion. It was a premeditated act of one person defying the protection afforded citizens of this nation through the court systems.

We live in a complex society that requires careful adjudication of proper action or re-action of all members of society in disputed situations. The guilty verdict in this trial was mandatory if our system of justice is going to survive. Our system had tried and acquited the murdered victim of criminal activity.
