Respect Women's Sexual and Reproductive Rights

By Tatiana McKinney
December 11, 2009

Women internationally are taking a stand for their sexual and reproductive rights.

YAY!

According to GhanaWeb, "Ghanaian women have been urged to be more assertive and demand respect for their sexual and reproductive rights. The General Secretary of African Rural Evangelistic Association, a local NGO, Mr. Israel Ghaffah, said this is necessary to reduce maternal deaths and poverty among them."

WOW!

He is urging them to be bold and say exactly how they feel about their bodies and their reproductive rights.

According to GhanaWeb, "Mr Ghaffah was speaking at a day's workshop on sexual and reproductive rights of women, in Kumasi, on Thursday. It was jointly organized by Amnesty International Ghana and Pre-Group, an NGO based at Kumasi."

This is great when internationally they can create workshop to help women be assertive when it comes to their health, which is important, especially now when they are testing our reproductive rights around the country.

More than 30 participants from both sexes attended the workshop, held under the theme "Advocacy on Women Sexual and Reproductive Rights."

Globally, it is estimated that about 500,000 women die annually from childbirth related complications, and this Mr Ghaffah said could be prevented if their rights were upheld.
My Thoughts...

Let's support Internationally because women's rights and reproductive health is jeopardized daily. Let's be a voice and mouthpiece to help make sure they are guaranteed their rights when it comes to sexual health.
