Today is a great day to do good in your community. You can pass out red ribbons, blog, and even donate money to organizations focused on HIV/AIDS around the country and in your community. Many stores such as the Gap, H&M, and MAC cosmetics are participating in the World Aids Day with their products.
Such a great day, right?
According to WCBS NewsRadio 880, "Ten HIV/AIDS activists have been arrested at a protest outside Gracie Mansion, where the New York City mayor was hosting a World AIDS Day reception."
Wow, right?
A police spokeswoman, Detective Gina Sarubbi, said the protesters were arrested Tuesday when they tried to chain themselves to a gate.
huh?
Here comes the interesting part....
Housing Works spokesman David Thorpe said the AIDS services group organized the protest. He said its chief executive, Charles King, was among those arrested.
Critics say the Bloomberg administration has cut funding for services for people living with HIV and AIDS, including housing.
Oops Bloomberg, Oops...not okay.
My thoughts...
It is always interesting to read the news and see them label the activist that were arrested as not performing a "civil protest" but getting out of hand, but there is always two-sides to each story. Supposedly Bloomberg has cut funding for HIV/AIDS services...hmmm...
Well, what do you think? Do you think they should of tried to chain themselves to the gate?
