To my surprise, no candidate took me up on the offer to expand on their views to convince people in the city to vote for them. No candidate decided to share their stance on open government on my blog. No candidate engaged me in efforts to paint themselves as concerned about what I was even posing.
But it's no surprise these candidates want my vote - and others as well - in order to put them into office. A city that is desperately looking for more open government, a better economic plan, more concern for rural city residents, more opportunities for the youth, more industry. A city barely surviving on all cylinders. The people can only assume - for the most part - that these candidates have the best intentions in mind for them.
I am Democratic. I am a liberal. I stand behind Democratic philosophy. I want Democratic efforts pushed in the city. I hope my vote tomorrow doesn't fall on deaf ears.
As I sit here tonight on Election Day morning - 12:00 a.m. EST - and think about what our city will get after the polls close, I can only imagine a city where all people can thrive. I can only imagine where all people work together to make our common goal come true. I can only imagine our city reemerging from out of its high unemployment rate. I can only imagine the business owners realize the importance of industry.
I can only imagine.
And to be honest, the image will most likely not come to fruition.
Vote today. Vote in one of the most important elections in our city's history. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
