Young Dems Rally for Public Option Health Insurance

This morning, the Kansas City Young Dems led a protest and rally at city hall. About 100 activists gathered to hear speeches and show solidarity for the right of Kansans to be able to be offered a public option offering of health insurance. The specific purpose of their protest was to voice their opposition to an amendment that may soon be introduced in the Kansas State Senate by Sen. Mary Pilcher-Cook (R-District 10). Pilcher-Cook's amendment would allow the state legislature to prevent the public option, if passed in the U.S. Congress, from being made available to citizens of Kansas.

The Young Democrats are opposed to leaving Kansans out of the health care reform options that will pass in Washington.

Skye Coleman, an organizer of the today's event, emphasized its importance, "Sen. Pilcher-Cook needs to know that her constituents do not stand with her in supporting such ludicrous amendments actually designed to limit their choices when it comes to health insurance. The people of Kansas are smarter than to believe the misleading language of the proposed amendment, and will collectively fight to ensure it fails."

Good for them! Here is some more ammo for their pursuit of getting the public option into law! http://cli.gs/23yYaM/
