I know you probably think I blog too much, but it's really hard not to express yourself when awesome stories get e-mailed or sorted through while perusing the internet during lunch break.
I love to read interesting things from different parts of the country and even outside my cozy comfort of DC culture. It's only fitting to see how women are portrayed by men in different places. British culture is quite different from American Culture and it's always shocking to see how they are viewed by their society.
According to Wikipedia (not the best source, but a great definition none the less), "A ladette is a loud, foul-mouthed and uncultured young women, who likes to drink and smoke and who are often sexually promiscuous."

Okay, remember this definition....
In the recent article by Mail Online, Cardiff, one of Britain's most lively places, is one of the country's worst cities for binge drinking. It recently banned "boozing" due to excessive behavior on the street.
The Cardiff Central MP Jenny Willott said, "Late night alcohol-fuelled crime and anti-social behavior is a huge problem on the streets."
" People deserve to have a night out without the fear of intimidation or facing violence as a result of excessive alcohol consumption. This ban should help the law-abiding and responsible majority to reclaim the streets."

Okay....
According to Mail Online, " The measures follow the revelation that drink was responsible for more than half the violent assaults in the city center in the pas 12 months."
Not there yet....
It comes as experts warned that British schoolgirls are the worst binge drinking in Europe. The problem is likely to become worse as it becomes more socially acceptable, a conference heard.
Some 648 children under ten were admitted to hospital due to drink between 2003 and 2008.
WOW! Shocking Statistics right?
Professor Ian Gilmore, president of the Royal College of Physicians, said: 'We are more than double our nearest rivals when it comes to women binge drinking. We stand out like sore thumbs.'

He added that many career women were drinking to 'hold their own' with male colleagues at after-work drinking sessions.
Binge drinking among young women hit the headlines again last week when university students across the country took part in organized marathon pub crawls.
Many familiar scenes of debauchery were seen, including half-naked women collapsing on the street.
Okay now ponder something, all of my pictures depict women acting unruly...Do you see their male counterparts? *says in sarcastic voice* They were good little boys and went straight home, no debauchery or late-night outs there!
My Thoughts....
So, what does this tell us that women in Europe, particularly in Cardiff County, have a serious problem with alcohol abuse. I'm thinking that women are not the only ones causing ruckus in the streets. Maybe they need to re-evaluate their statistics and surveys. Men drink just as much as women, and why should women be competing and feeling like they are incompetent, why can't the reason behind their "wild" drinking be that maybe they want to have fun and don't believe they are taking it too far. Sometimes I think that "men" who write articles about women with problems always assume that all women are doing the same thing. All British women do not drink and a majority of them can probably hold their own liquor. Most of the pictures they include do not depict every single woman in Britain. Maybe i'm over analyzing this article, or maybe i'm not. What do you think?
Do you think Women are Drinking due to competition with male counterparts? Or are Women drinking because of the pressure of life in general? Or Maybe women are drinking because they just feel the need to drink?
What do you think?
Maybe I should have a drink to think about it....
