Hello Everyday Citizens. November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month, so I've decided to dedicate 3 weeks of my blogs to honoring this month. Last month was Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I dedicated my personal blog to spotlighting many programs and people that were working to shed light on the epidemic that has engulfed our society.
Starting today, I am going to be continuously blogging and shedding light on the homeless youth in America. From economic difficulties, people, programs, and even organizations that are working to end homelessness in this country. I hope you enjoy " The Homeless Diaries Series!"
According to Change.org, "Today, many homeless individuals and families are taking shelter in storage units."
Many families have started renting out storage units and using them as homes. Seeing as our economy has been in a bad place, there are more homeless people on the streets, many of them young children.
According to Change.org, "At $179/month, the price is certainly right. Storage units beat the dangers of the street, the rules of shelters, and the stigma of tent cities for people who are newly homeless."
This makes me sad....
What does this say about our country? Will we ever end homelessness completely?
My thoughts....
It's "Ironic" how we use storage's because we have too much stuff. Our apartments, condos, and houses can't fit everything, so we purchase a storage hoping to de-clutter our homes. Now, people are using storage's because they don't have anything at all.
What does that say about our society? Do we value our stuff more than we do people?
