Authors, sign in!Change.org, is one of my favorite blog sites. Jen Nedeau, Women's Rights Editor, is awesome when finding amazing stories that shed light on the injustices women face and also spotlighting amazing things women do everyday.
On Friday, she usually post a bunch of awesome sites with interesting articles about women. Today, she posted one from the Women's Campaign Forum, which work hard to make sure women have a fair chance to run for office w/o scrutiny and backlash from the media.
Today, Siobhan "Sam" Bennett, WCF President and CEO, discusses the hardships and recent sexist attacks against Martha Coakley, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins.
As a former Congressional candidate, I know exactly how it feels to be attacked simply for being a woman. I never realized just how sexist politics is until I decided to run for office.My local paper ran an unacceptable quote about me on the front page during my race. Now, I’ve decided to tell my story on camera to bring these kinds of misogynistic attacks to light.
Bennett relives the moment that her paper bashed her candidacy. It is shocking and it saddens me that they would use such vulgar and offensive language to describe such a wonderful women.
