Next month, thousands of progressives will gather in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for four days of panels, parties, trainings, keynotes and screenings — all in an effort to strategize and organize progressive change. I hope you join us! This 4th annual gathering of Netroots Nation...
...amplifies progressive voices by providing an online and in-person campus for exchanging ideas and learning how to ...influence the public debate... we strengthen community, inspire action and serve as an incubator for progressive ideas that challenge the status quo and ultimately affect change...What's that in plain English? Grassroots folks, from all over the country, gather in one place for four days to make new friends, teach and learn from each other and to return to their homes armed with new tools, new ideas and fresh inspiration. This year's convention of insightful panels, training sessions and networking opportunities will be held in Pittsburgh August 13 - 16. Still deciding on whether or not to attend?
Here are some compelling reasons that will convince you to register right now...
- The slate of workshops is phenomenal (see agenda pages here and here) and more are added every day. So far, 292 speakers and presenters have signed up!
- If you are a high school or college student, you only pay $50 for your registration anyway. (a big savings!)
- You'll get to meet your favorite progressive bloggers, authors and organizers. (You'll even learn the real names and see the real faces of people you may only know by pseudonyms.)
- You'll meet some really cool progressive politicians too. (They always stop by ... why? Because they think we're cool too.)
- After the panels, there's the afterparty ... and after the afterparty, there's the hotel lobby! (The DailyKos party might be the most fun you've had this year!)
- All the events are held in a building that is naturally cooled by the winds off the river.
- Last-minute appearances from folks like Al Gore (you'll get to ask Al Gore questions up close and personal).
- Activists are coming from every state and some other countries too. (The kind of people that you want to know!)
- The doctor (Dean) is in.
- A growing substantive agenda (there's so much to choose from!) The topics are new, fresh, cutting edge.
- Over 70 panels will be held in four days!
- Over 20 training sessions on online tools and offline organizing.
- Expected attire is very casual, as in 'grassroots organizing chic'!
- Every attendee gets a cool orange schwag bag!
- Everybody gets tasty lunches that won't involve the use of plastic (plus, there will be a chocolate fountain).
- Did I say that I'll be there? I will!
- Several writers from EverydayCitizen.com are coming! Like Jenifer Daniels, Michael Fedor, Sarah Burris, Colin Curtis, Mike Nellis and many more!
Really. C'mon. This is THE place to be.
What are you waiting for?
