Whatever happened to government working together to solve issues?
In Kansas alone, Republicans have their way in the House and Senate.
Now, with the very real likelihood that Kansas will have a new Republican Governor very soon – unless a miracle happens, it is my sincere hope, voters of all parties, will come to realize the disparity of having lopsided control in the House and Senate.
With a Republican Governor, especially one who does not believe in science, one who does not EVER fund education, and one who voted against fair wages for the working class, (tip of the iceberg) - I am asking all voters to look back over the past eight years, and vote in the next election for compromise.
Better still, do not, and I repeat – do not get all of your news from one source; especially those of you who live in rural areas and are limited to one local paper or one FOX network.

"We need to listen to the American people on both timing and substance. We need to help 'the widow and orphan and foreigner amongst us,' but must do so in a way and at a time the American people support.” This, two years ago, was a statement that came out of Senator Sam Brownback’s own mouth. Now, when we hear Brownback speak, we hear the opposite psychobabble that we heard throughout the last administrations tenure; No! Opposite, because what George Bush wanted from his party, George Bush got. Brownback gladly voted with Bush’s every whim.
So, if so many people agreed with the Republican Party, why did they get tossed out on their wallets and why is their party in complete disarray?
What our current administration wants, who I will remind you, was voted into office by an overwhelming majority of the people, has been turned down on nearly everything requested by U.S. House and Senate members that are representing a small minority of voters currently. And, do not be fooled people, they will lie, they have lied, and they will stop at nothing to make you believe the Democratic Party is very scary.
In addition to being the party of NO, the Republican’s have recently resorted back to their scare-mongering tactics used too many times in the past. Because scaring the American people has worked so well in the past.
“Democrat Socialist” is a label; rumor has it, Republican’s plan to place on most American people.
If the latest polls are to be believed, only 21 percent of those surveyed, associate themselves with the party of NO. If polls are to be believed, the ignorance of lashing out at:
- A - Democratic voters, or
- B - Independent voters,
would fall right in lockstep with what we have witnessed lately from those to whom I refer. They are lashing out at most Americans, with the exception of their insignificant 21 percent.
Not all Republicans are bad. In fact, there are a few I concede my respect to, because they earned it.
Not all Democrats are good; there are a few who have lost my respect.
We do not have to compromise our values; however, we must compromise on some policy issues that deeply affect the citizens being represented. Or, like a spouse, sometimes a compromise must be made to keep the harmony and avoid a stalemate.
If you hear a plan that sounds reasonable, before you let the naysayers fill you full of untruths, like they will no doubt do on the issue of single payer health care, or whether or not water boarding is torture, please, please, ask yourself, what is in your heart? And do not vote on what your mind has been filled with.
Vote for a balanced ticket in the state of Kansas.
Don’t make the excuse, “I’ve always voted Republican, so I can’t vote for a Democrat.”
It’s nonsense.
If a party is not voting to educate your children, not voting for a better more affordable health care system, not voting to protect your rights as workers, then it’s time for a change.
Kansas is long overdue for a balance of equal representation.
So before you go vote in 2010, by all means, do yourself a favor, study and expand your mind with a little knowledge of the candidate – they all look dazzling, and tell you what you want to hear when asking for your vote.
Brownback, likes to wear his religion on his sleeve; does that disturb anyone else?
One other thing, before you decide you are against or in favor of something, take time to dissect and analyze why.
Vote with all people in mind, not just the crowd you hang with. We are all different, and after all, isn’t that really a beautiful thing?
Equal representation equals: equal representation; or two mindsets meeting in the middle.
Now is the “way and at a time the American people support.”
