Martha Stewart Disappoints with Youth Slam

By Sarah Burris
March 14, 2009

Ohh Martha, Martha, Martha.... how I loved you and your food. I'm an avid follower of @MarthaStewart and @MarthaRadio on twitter and I watch eps tivo'd because I'm such a foodie. Imagine my sadness when I watched yesterday's episode to discover not only her bash on Jon Stewart for holding CNBC and Cramer accountable - but also a little insult to twitter and ... college kids.

Speaking of Jon Stewart she said,

"He does what Twittering does in a way, because he’s reaching a vast audience that never, never, never paid attention to the news before. You know, college kids. But rather than getting always news, they’re getting commentary."
So not only are twitter people not paying attention to the news but college kids aren't either.

So not only are twitter people not paying attention to the news but college kids aren't either.

I'm so disappointed and am drafting a letter as we speak that includes the important data about young people being the generation PAYING THE MOST ATTENTION to the 2008 election.

When it comes to twitter - many of the people I follow are bloggers, politicos, and some of the smartest people I've ever known. . . Twitter is for people to share news as its happening - so we know about it BEFORE the news people do. In a sense Twitter people are not only paying attention to the news - they're reporting it first. See Mumbai.

I'm so disappointed. Please help explain to Martha why this is incorrect by tweeting:

@MarthaStewart Please get the facts before saying college kids don't pay attention to the news http://tinyurl.com/awkqb7
