Yes but compassion for whom? The oil companies that McCain accepted $1.3 million from? Listening to 44 year old, former mayor of a, “small moose village” brag about McCain’s record doesn’t exactly inspire me as compared to Obama, a man who has inspired millions of voter’s not only in our country but world-wide.
Sarah Palin, or introduced yesterday as Sarah Paulenty, oops, has given a speech tonight that just blew my mind. I think it should be illegal to slander someone’s name in the manner in which she did Obama tonight.
So here are a few of her quotes that I just jotted down. “Take it from a gal who knows the North slope of Alaska, we’ve got lots of both.” “Both” meaning, oil and coal. Has anyone in the “opponents” camp, bothered to look into the factual numbers of gallons of oil that might, and I stress, might be drilled from Alaska? Enough to lower our fuel costs by a mere two percent in seven to ten years provided all goes well.
Okay, first of all, how many jobs are we actually talking when we speak of job creation? How far will this oil get us in the long scheme? We all know these answers, if we are being honest.
Palin went on, “Our opponents (like the choice of words) say again and again that drilling won’t solve all of our energy problems, as if we didn’t know that.” No, sweetheart, drilling won’t solve any of our problems, and you all sure don’t act and talk like you knew that. She discussed how Alaska plans to lay more pipelines starting in Jan. Keep dreaming, there will be no Jan. in office for Palin and McCain.
She even admitted, “Our opponents have much to admire.” Okay, I may have taken that a little out of context, but she did say it, because it is true. Palin says that Obama wants to make our government bigger, wants to take more of your money. How could anyone make our government bigger than it has become under a failed Republican administration? On the second note, Obama has clearly stated that he will put more money into the tax-payers coffers. Palin must be a young 44, because I just don’t think she gets the facts, either that or she is just so high (pardon the pun) that she doesn’t know how to listen and hear at the same time. Then Palin goes on to say, “America needs more energy but our (here we go again) opponent, is against producing it.” Excuse me? What about the plan Obama has made clear on producing greener technology? More jobs, better education, oh that’s right the Republican’s don’t support education funding.
Palin even had the audacity to criticize Obama for wanting to meet with other countries “without pre-conditions.” Now I specifically remember Obama saying that there would need to be some pre-conditions. Also she says, “He’s worried that someone won’t read them their rights,” referring to terrorists. My theory is it is too easy these days to stick a label on a person. As for right’s, I think our constitution guarantees those rights, or did I miss it when Bush took those rights away also?
Palin says, “McCain uses his career to promote change.” I would agree with that statement, since he and his cohorts won’t stop talking about his days in a POW camp. I applaud his service, but I do not want it thrown out there every time he needs an applause line, especially with all of our veterans who are still not receiving proper care and maintained facilities. “Our nominee,” she adds, “doesn’t run with the Washington heard.” Does she really believe that? Palin then refers to Sen. Harry Reid, as if she is trying to garner a final punch line, “and his do nothing senate.” We should really review this statement. His do nothing senate, actually has had to make numerous concessions to the Republicans just to get anything at all done.
Everything under this administration has been straight down party lines, because the Democrats know the Republicans are wrong. Watch a vote on C-SPAN sometime, you cannot overlook that fact.
My favorite, commentary made so far since the Palin speech ended tonight was given by Rudi Giuliani when he the brilliant one stated that Palin would “learn foreign policy, she is a very quick study.” If she has not learned science and evolution, I really don’t think she’s all that quick of a study!
