Last night, Governor Sarah Palin gave "the speech of her lifetime." And after a six day soap opera about her family, background, and (limited) public service, I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
But now I do: she's a hack. Nothing more, nothing less.
She brings nothing to the McCain campaign but double-edged, Karl Rove-style verbal punches about the Democratic presidential nominee. No substance, no humanity. No insight into what she truly brings to the ticket. Just clever sound bites.
Personally, I'm happy with her acceptance speech. If the Democrats were smart - and I wouldn't bet on that - I would see her speech as an opportunity to hit her back, only twice as hard.

I'm not sure if coming back twice as hard will work if it treads on the lines of sexism---possibly the experience, and reminders of fear tactics of the RNC would work.
