Twas Days Before the Convention

By Sarah Burris
August 22, 2008

A behind the scenes look at the pre-convention fun complete with a great bedtime story!

Twas, mere days before the Convention and all through the city
the helicopters were buzzing like Twitter's all twitty
The cables were hung by the walls all with care,
in prep for the media that would soon all be there.

The bloggers were tucked behind all their screens
While reporters played hacky sack out in the wings.
CNN rushed to add a few finishing touches,
Veep hopefuls feel it nearing their clutches.

When out on the highway arose such a clatter
all grabbed cameras to see what was the matter.
Away to the doors delegates flew like a flash,
With sun pouring in we saw Republican trash!

What to my wondering eyes should appear,
But protesters shouting so all of us could hear!
Anti-choice, anti-youth, right wingers alike
Marching in step like that ol' Third Reich.

Now Blackberry! Now MacBook! now Flickr and Twitter!
On cameras, on cell phones! Even Governor Bill Ritter!
They were gone all too soon but the damage was done,
For rapid response on this day had won.
Fast key strokes and podcasts filled in the center
with gusto and unity there wasn't one dissenter.

Back to preparing the week soon to come
the staffers, supporters all searching for chum.
A smirk on our lips, a twinkle in our eye
Will VP be Sebelius, Biden, Kaine or Bahy?

With visions of electoral votes dancing in our heads
news of McCains 7 houses spreads
Obama's economic policy abounds
Hillary fans will all come 'round.

Anticipation building like an over cached byte
Happy Convention to all! Bring on the McCain fight!
