Woody Allen was right: Eighty percent of success in life is just showing up. On Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. I was near the Pepsi Center when the Kansas delegation organizers called to inform me that a guest credential into the hall had become available. Since I had put my name into a lottery early that morning for precisely this long shot chance, I was elated. But I could use the pass only if I could somehow make it back to the hotel by 4 p.m. to pick it up. As numerous blogs on this site have attested, trying to get anywhere through convention traffic in a hurry is not a game you want to play. I hustled to the light rail stop, and the only train that would have a chance to make it on time happened to be the one that showed up first, so I did not have to change trains and wait for another one. I made it at 4:05. My pass only allowed me into the nosebleed section, but I was there. Sometimes, you just have to find a way to show up.
