T. Boone Pickens Comes to Kansas

By Sarah Burris
July 30, 2008

Right now T. Boone Pickens is in Topeka Kansas launching his Townhall program that discusses his plan to drastically reduce the $700 Billion dollars we spend on foreign oil.

PickensSupporters.com has graciously done a broadcast live, please check out below the jump...

[Editorial Note: Since the live cast is over, the live video feed has been replaced with the following pre-recorded video - pjp]

T. Boone Pickens is only about wealth and profit. I do hope that the young people will not jump on his bandwagon. He is not AL Gore.

We know who he is. We need today to see him for what he is. He stands to pocket enormous amounts of taxpayer money (billions of our hard earned tax dollars) by erecting (and continuing to own) huge wind farms. The profits he makes will be in the form of tax abatements and taxfree development and funding and - gifts from the government. In other words, we will give T. Boone Pickens our money so that he will build himself a wind empire that will not decrease the cost of our energy.

He says that we currently use natural gas to produce 22% of our electricity. He says that harnessing the power of wind to generate electricity will give us the flexibility to shift natural gas away from electricity generation and put it to use as a transportation fuel — reducing our dependence on foreign oil by more than one-third.

What he's not telling you is that natural gas as a transportation fuel is not the direction of development.

What he's really not telling you is that he would not be interested in wind power if there wasn't billions of tax dollars in it for him to pocket. Come on people, be appropriately skeptical. Why is he waging this big Public Relations campaign? He wants to rake in tax dollars for his own profit.

T. Boone Pickens is NO Al Gore. Please be more wary and less impressionable. T. Boone Pickens is about profit from your pocket to his. That's all. Some very earnest and good people are being sucked in and are being taken for a ride.

You need to ask yourselves - if his plan makes sense - why is he wanting the taxpayers to give him billions of dollars to build his private enterprises?
