According to a release issued from the Kansas Democratic Party, Pat Roberts has violated Federal Election Commission Laws by not following regulations on his attack ads against his Democratic opponent former Congressman Jim Slattery.
The KDP outlines:
"FEC regulations require television advertisements authorized by a candidate to contain an audio statement by the candidate identifying that candidate and stating that he or she approved the message. The audio voice-over must be accompanied by either "an un-obscured, full-screen view" of the candidate, or else a picture of the candidate that is "at least 80 percent of the vertical screen height.A mostly obscured image of Roberts appears during half of his brief statement at the beginning of the new ad. The advertisement must also contain "a similar statement that appears in clearly reading writing at the end of the television communication." No such statement appears in the Roberts ad."
The latest attack ad does not meet the "Stand By Your Ad" requirements set by the 2002 Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act.
The violation and its contradiction has already made it to the internets via YouTube with another funny question about Roberts' 40 years in Washington and his need for what he calls his "memory pills."
