For Democrats: Grassroots Action to Attend on November 3rd

By Nora Thomason
October 31, 2007

On this Saturday, November 3rd, one year out from the 2008 election, Democrats in all 50 states are gathering for events in their own communities. Is so doing, they are joining up with the Democratic National Party's first nationwide organizing push. In fact, the push looks different than it had in previous years. To many in red states, the "50-state strategy" was a mirage. I'm starting to think that it's possible that Howard heard the complaints and is doing it different this time. How? Truly engaging 50 states and lifting up grassroots worker into higher party esteem.

This from the DNC website regarding the November 3rd events:

We're going to unveil our confidential organizing plans for those who attend the events, and there's never been anything like it. Find out how we plan to win with an inside presentation.

The key to success will be having a team of local Democrats reaching out and talking to their neighbors about issues that matter in their communities. That's why we'll be asking you to spread the word and start talking to the people who live nearby.

If you want to host one, the website says here that if you have not been contacted by staff from the state party and have not received materials to host a house party (DVD, Neighborhood Leader Pledge Cards, literature and lists of voters in your neighborhood) that you can contact your state party and ask to speak with the staff person responsible for assisting house party hosts in your county.
