Czar Lute & the Latest Numbers

By Bill Robb
May 19, 2007

Concerning this ill-fated war, it seems Mr. Dee-Side-Errr has announced a new position at the Pentagon. The New "War Czar" is Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute. You can read about it here.

This is nothing to get excited about. I assure you the only purpose for this new position is to have someone to fire shortly after General Pace reports back on Iraq in September. They'll want to say something like "we're starting off with a fresh new plan with new leadership and new energy"..... or some thought up phrase like that.

Same crap, different day... stay the course! The same-ol-lame-ol! We've heard it all before!

Folks, The Iraq war is now approaching costs of one half trillion of your tax dollars. Estimates are that over 2 million Iraqis have been displaced to neighboring countries. The infrastructure is for all intents and purposes non existent. The level of sectarian violence is out of control and everyday we see on the news, more car bombings that kill any where from dozens to hundreds at a time let alone the untold scarred and wounded. Afghanistan seems to become somewhat of a quagmire itself. Bush is meeting with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer today in Crawford TX.

Last week, three of our brave American heroes were abducted and their fate is still yet unknown. I know my gut wrenches when I consider this tragic turn of events and I'm sure yours has too. In all wars, unspeakable atrocities occur, however, it seems that one unique bi-product of this war is an inflated or rather an acute awareness of such reality in war.

It seems our minds have been trained to imagine quite vividly the most obscene of human behaviors and on more than one occasion our enemy has shown their lust for the most barbaric of technique and their willingness to carry it out.

Yet the President and his merry band continue to lead us all down the merry little path of "stay the course." Folks, remember how they keep telling us "if we leave the enemy will follow us home." Well don't drop your forks but two weeks ago 6 Suspected terrorists were arrested for plotting an attack on Fort Dix New Jersey. Evidently the plan wasn't thwarted by Homeland Security, or by illegal wire-tapping, or by unwarranted surveillance, nor were we saved by Jack Bauer for that matter! The hero that uncovered that plot was none other than a photo-mat attendant who was probably making minimum wage at the time.

America is in danger whether we're in Iraq or not.

America must come to realize that this war in Iraq was not about fighting terrorism as much as it was about creating terrorism and propping up a Shiite government favorable to the West's oil needs. ( i.e., why did Halliburton move to Dubai and just who benefits from oils large demand and short supply? We're paying $3.34 here in Ellis today)

Folks, if you're smelling something funny and feeling a squish between your toes, rubber boots simply wont do anymore, by now we should all be in fishing waders!

Officially, Here are the latest numbers according to D.O.D.

IN IRAQ ALONE:
3422 AMERICANS KILLED (increase of 227 since March 13th)
(37 OF THOSE ARE FROM KANSAS)
107 Have Died from Self-Inflicted wounds
25242 AMERICANS WOUNDED (An increase of 1825 since March 13th)
ESTIMATE 69850 IRAQIS KILLED (increase of 5406 since March 13th)
(some estimates are as high as 750,000)
