No More Fear

By Bill Robb
March 11, 2007

Yes, I've been quiet for a while. Some of you may have been wondering "what happened to Bill"? Well to be quite frank I have been suffering from writers block - and I've been feeling a sense of fear. Fear of what? Fear of offending someone. Fear of upsetting the apple cart.

But, see, I just want so much for all "good" Democrats to abandon our own complacency and begin that dialogue with our friends and neighbors, convincing them that Democrats hold more answers than questions.

If any of us foresee trouble with this task, all we have to do is simply watch a few network news programs (NOT FOX)! Include C-Spans "Capital Journal", and read more to arm ourselves with the facts and a few talking points and we'll be set. Because if any of us are unable to convince a few "Red" voters this year and next year that moderate Democrats have the answers rather than the neo-conservative right wingers, than we're simply not conscious - or perhaps some of us passed a way some time ago.

I know that I will be most effective if I am able to be passionate without being offensive! I am also trying to tone down my rhetoric to a more civil tone rather than the hostile nature most of you had become accustomed to hearing from me. I never want to unnecessarily offend anyone. However, I simply didn't know how, but I'm working on it. I want my communications to be effective, but not divisive! It's hard to tone my rhetoric down though, especially with these corrupt clowns we have in the White House. But, like I said, I'm trying.

Allow me to elaborate. When I was a child I loved the circus. The smells, the acts, the animals and the music. I especially loved the cotton candy. It was so sweet and sticky. The ice cold coke and peanuts. Aw,the circus! But that was when I was a child and I didn't understand what trickery was being played out before my eyes. I mean really, how did those Elephants stand on their two front legs? And those jugglers, how'd they do that? My dad explained it to me. He said, "they practice son"!

Well this administration is a circus in itself. And folks, they're good. They've had plenty of practice. I mean really! It's like a three ring circus from hell! I need a program just to keep up with all the crap that's going on right in front of our eyes. Lets just mention just a few problems this administration is responsible for:

1. Iraq war.
2. Abu Ghraib.
3. Patriot Act violations.
4. Walter Reed.
5. Firing of Federal Prosecutors.
6. CIA leak.
7. Missing dollars in Iraq.

I mean really, it's like watching a circus. "Bad-Boy-Bozo" and "Crazy Clara Bell the Sure-Shot Clown from hell" are the only names that truly fit Bush and Cheney! Lets not forget "Ringmaster Rove" and "Gone-zo Gonzales"!

And over there in the other two rings we have the "Evil Leprechaun O'Reilly", who will "trick" ya when ever he can, and "Adams Apple on Stilts Coulter" who evidently hates gays and called John Edwards a very fowl name. She's joined by "Peter the Peckerhead Pace", the "Pistol Packin Pentagon Homo-phobic"!

We have "Round Rush", the worlds largest liar, and "Hateful Hannity" who wont be pleased until we go completely fascist. There's "Misguided Michelle Malkin" who's simply never looked in a mirror (otherwise she might appreciate immigration"). The bands being led by "Marching McCain" and his drum beating side-kick "Little Lindsey."

And then we have all the other characters in the show, "Naughty Newt, the worlds greatest hypocrite", "Confused Rudy/Judy Giuliani " who dresses like a woman, supports Gay rights, but calls himself a conservative! (You remember him, he's they guy that took out a restraining order on his wife to keep her out of the Mayors Mansion while he shacked up with his tiara wearing mistress while he was Mayor of New York) (wassup with that?)... (can you say family values? I knew you could!)

Over there doing cart-wheels we have "Flip Flopping Mitt"! And how can we forget the many others who have already been on stage but are now in the wings or in the cages where they belong. Remember "Run-around Ron Rumsfeld"? or how about "Behind Bars Bob Ney", or "Doing time Duke Cunningham", and "Pardon Me Please, I'm just Scooter, The Shooters Libby" and the ever-lovable "Delay the Day Delay" and who can forget well dressed "Page Turner Foley"?

And oh yes, we cant forget the owner of the show, singing "Hello, Goodbye, we're going to Dubai", Halliburton! Ya ever wonder why ya never see a donkey at a circus? Nope! All ya ever see are those damn elephants!

Oh yes, in my own state of Kansas, we still have a failed war in Iraq and Representatives Jerry Moran (Who sits on the House Veterans affairs Committee) and Todd Tiahrt (who sits on the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense) both still support this tragedy! Then, we face these numbers released by DOD, IN IRAQ ALONE:

1. 3,195 Americans killed, an increase of 133 since January 24th, and 36 of these from my state of Kansas.
2. 23,417 Americans wounded, an increase of 689 since January 24th.
3. Estimate of 64,444 Iraqis killed, an increase of 4346 since January 24th.

Yes, it's true, I've been quiet for a while.

But, I've got to get over my lack of confidence and my fears, because too many people are hurting and there's too much for all of us to do to make it stop.

Bill, I don't know you so I don't think I knew you were silent before. But, I'm glad to have you join us now. It sounds like you just need a channel for your political passions. Many, many people strongly believe that there needs to be huge changes in the directions our country is heading in. It's going to take all of us to get it changed. So, don't falter, don't give up, and don't lose your confidence. We need you.

Katherine:

I've never been politically involved because I didn't feel I knew enough to make informed decisions. Blogs, along with the internet in general, have changed that for me.

Blogs organize information for me and link me directly to solid sources. They link me to videos that replay exactly what someone said or did. I can readily locate and read original transcripts. I can watch live hearings anywhere I have my laptop and internet access. I can study documents for myself without having to rely on anyone's interpretation but my own.

I have to believe that as more people become informed and aware of the "circus" that changes will be inevitable. I have to believe...
